Born in 1966, Prof. Dr. Jens-Christian Wagner studied medieval and modern history, geography, and Romance philology in Göttingen and Santiago de Chile (M.A.). He completed his doctorate at the University of Göttingen in 1999 with a thesis on the history of the Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp. In 2000 he was a guest scholar with the Max Planck Society research project "Geschichte der Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft im NS" (Berlin). He served as director of the Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial (Nordhausen) 2001–2014, as executive director of the Lower Saxon Memorials Foundation 2001–2014, and director of the Bergen-Belsen Memorial (Celle) 2014-2020. He has been director of the Buchenwald and Mittelbaz-Dora Memorials Foundation since 2020.

Born in 1975, Dr. Philipp Neumann-Thein studied modern and contemporary history, economic and social history, and political science in Jena and Siena (M.A.). 2003–2005 he held a research internship at the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation. In 2005 he began his doctoral project on the history of the International Committee Buchenwald Dora and Kommandos (ICBD). 2009–2017 he held the position of personal assistant to the Foundation director and was head of the Press and Public Relations Department of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation. Since 2013, he has held the title of Dr. phil. Since 2018, he has been deputy director of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation.

Dr. Michael Löffelsender studied medieval/modern history, ancient history, and German philology in Cologne (M.A.). In 2005/06 he was a research intern at the Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camp Memorial, and 2007–2009 he served as a research associate at the University of Cologne. He was a scholar at the Max Planck Research School for Comparative Legal History University of Frankfurt/Main 2009–2011, and in 2011 he received his doctorate at the University of Cologne with a thesis on the justice system during World War II. He has worked as a research associate at the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials since 2012.

Stefanie Masnick studied conservation of archaeological objects and arts and crafts at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences 2001–2008. 2009–2014 she worked as a freelance conservator, and from 2011–2014 she was employed as conservator at the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology. She has been the Conservator at the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation since 2014.

Dr. Julia Landau studied modern and recent history, Eastern European history, Slavistics, and public law in Freiburg/Brsg., Basel, and Odessa 1991–1998. In 2008 she received her doctorate at the Ruhr University Bochum on the subject of the everyday life of miners under Stalinism in Western Siberia (Kuznetsk Basin) in the pre-war period. She has worked as a research associate at the Ruhr University Bochum, under the Chair of Eastern European history (the late Prof. Dr. Dr. em. Bernd Bonwetsch) and Chair of contemporary history (Prof. Dr. Constantin Goschler), for the project "Geschichte der Auszahlungsprogramme der Bundesstiftung ‘Erinnerung, Verantwortung, Zukunft’ (EVZ) und ihrer Partnerorganisationen," where she developed an individual study on the compensation payments made in the Ukraine and Moldavia. She has been the curator of the Department of the Soviet Special Camp No. 2 at the Buchenwald Memorial since 2012.

Rene Emmendörffer studied history and Yiddish philology at the University of Düsseldorf (M.A.) 2014–2020. From 2018–2020 he was a student assistant at MiQua: LVR-Jüdisches Museum im Archäologischen Quartier Köln. Since 2020 he has been a team member of the project [m²] miteinander mittendrin: Für Demokratie – Gegen Antisemitismus und Rassismus organized by the NS-Documentation Center of the City of Cologne and has worked as a research scholar at the Charles University in Prague since 2021. From 2021 to July 2022, he was a research volunteer in Custody 2 - History of Soviet Special Camp No. 2 at the Buchenwald Memorial. Since August 2022, he has been a staff member at the Buchenwald Memorial Archive.

Stefan Lochner studied sociology, modern history, and German literary studies in Jena, receiving his M.A. in 2007. 2004–2005 he completed an International Master of European Political Sociology, Högskolan Dalarna, Falun (Sweden). 2007–2010 he was a member of the Doctoral School of the Jena Center Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts and 2008–2009 an independent associate of the Fritz Bauer Institut (Frankfurt am Main) and 2012–2016 an independent associate in its education and research department. He has been Head of the Library and a member of the Buchenwald Memorial education staff since 2016.

His research emphases encompass the history of the National Socialist concentration camps, in particular the photographic history and material legacy of the Buchenwald concentration camp.

2009–2016 Markus Wegewitz studied history at the University of Halle, University of Jena, and University of Amsterdam. He was a research associate at the Europäisches Kolleg Jena 2017–2020, receiving his doctorate in the history of European antifascism in 2021. He then worked as a freelance historian on the research project "Die Bundespräsidenten der alten Bundesrepublik, das Bundespräsidialamt und die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Nationalsozialismus." Since 2021 he has served as the coordinator for the project of digitizing the archival, library, and collection holdings of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation.
