Historical Sites
The former inmates' camp, the SS casern, the memorial complex, the cemeteries of the Soviet Special Camp No. 2, and all other outdoor facilities can be visited daily until dusk.
(We recommend that you do not visit the former detention cells, the former crematorium, and the exhibitions with children under the age of 12.)
From 1 April 2023: A visit to the former crematorium is possible Tuesday to Friday from 10 – 11 a.m., 2:30 – 5:30 p.m., and from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. during the weekends. Outside of these normal opening hours, visits are only possible as a part of a guided tour.

Exhibitions
There are four exhibitions to visit at the memorial – a historical and an art exhibition about the concentration camp, the history of Soviet Special Camp No. 2, and the history of the memorial.
April – October:

Cinema
In the cinema, which is located behind the Visitor Information Centre, a documentary about the Buchenwald Concentration Camp can be viewed every hour on the hour from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (approx. 30 min., German with English subtitles).
Versions with subtitles in French and for the hearing impaired, as well as other documentaries, for example about the Soviet Special Camp No. 2, can be viewed by prior arrangement with the Visitor Information Centre.
Large groups are requested to register with the Visitor Information Centre in advance by e-mail (information@buchenwald.de), so that we can ensure there are sufficient seats for all visitors.
