Guided tour with introductory discussion (3 hours): The guided tour with an introductory group session provides an overview of the history of the site with an emphasis on the National Socialist period. The themes of the guided tour are the Buchenwald concentration camp, its changing functions, and its entanglement with the City of Weimar as well as the civilian population and businesses. The tour offers insights into the inmates' perspectives, but also those of the perpetrators and other involved persons.
Approach via the Buchenwald Railway Memorial Trail: In connection with a visit to the Buchenwald Memorial, groups can (additionally) book a guided walk along the Buchenwald Railway Memorial Trail, especially as an outward route to the memorial along part of the former railway line and the memorial stones located there. Please indicate your wish in this regard when booking (e.g. in the field 'further notes'). In close coordination with the Buchenwald Railway Memorial Trail Initiative, we will make your wish possible, provided that the appropriate staff capacities are available.
