Franz Waurig

Research Associate, Curating 2 – History of Soviet Special Camp No. 2, sub-project "Gedenken ohne Wissen? Die sowjetischen Speziallager in der postsozialistischen Erinnerungskultur" of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research

Franz Waurig studied history and Bohemian philology at the University of Leipzig 2009–2015. 2016–2018 he was a research intern at the Buchenwald Memorial, and since 2019 he has worked on the research project "Gedenken ohne Wissen? Die sowjetischen Speziallager in der postsozialistischen Erinnerungskultur" of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research at the Buchenwald Memorial.

Research focuses:
History of the Soviet special camps, history of Czechoslovakia, history of everyday life and media in the countries of Central and Southern Europe
