As she did not want to leave her mother behind, she stayed in Germany - despite increasing reprisals and the offer to work abroad as a trainer. Lilli Henoch was deported on 5 September 1942 and murdered shortly afterwards near Riga.

The most successful German track and field athlete of the 1920s began her sporting career in Königsberg. She came to Berlin in 1919 and joined the renowned Berliner Sport-Club. Despite her outstanding services to the club, she was removed from the membership list in 1933, like all other Jewish athletes.
