"My engravings show the whole camp". Pierre Provost, a member of the French Resistance at Buchenwald Concentration Camp
A special french exhibition by the Association Française Buchenwald-Dora and Commandos and the Musée de la Résistance nationale, Champigny-sur-Marne with special support from Gisèle Provost, daughter of the artist.
French artist Pierre Provost (1895-1986) who came to Buchenwald as a political inmate in 1944 created about 50 engravings and plastic objects. The conspiratorial resistance movement in the camp protected him and his work. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of liberation an exhibition at Buchenwald Memorial presents the most important of these examples of creativity and self-assertion. They come from the collection of Provosts works that is exhibited at the Musée de la Resistance nationale at Champigny-sur-Marne, France, and is peplenished by documents from the Provost family.
The exhibition can be visited from April 11 to December 30.
