DP Camp and the Demolition of the Barracks
From December 1945 onward, after the last former forced labourers had left the Dora barrack camp, it served under German administration as a reception camp for German expellees from Czechoslovakia. From here the “new citizens” were distributed among the surrounding northern Thuringian communities. The camp accommodated an average of 5,000 men, women and children. It was dissolved in July 1946.
