Reports of eye-witnesses

Even before leaving the liberated camp, 177 former inmates volunteered to serve as witnesses in future war crimes trials. The majority of them were survivors who had been imprisoned in Buchenwald for many years and who, on the basis of their experiences, were capable of incriminating specific members of the SS.
