An exhibition of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation in cooperation with the Foundation of Weimar Classics and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.
In 1990, the German public in both East and West responded with dismay to press accounts regarding the former Soviet special camps. However, reference to these camps was by no means absent from post-war press accounts.
After 1990, the large number of media accounts grappling with the history of the special camps formed a large and heterogeneous visual exploration of the history and political implications of this highly sensitive issue.
On the basis of individual biographies, this travelling exhibition documents the performance of forced labour by female concentration camp inmates in war production.
