The Buchenwald Memorial has at its disposal an archival collection on the concentration
camp, the special camp and the memorial history.
Wherever possible, the archive provides information on the fate of former inmates,
supports research projects and is available for use within the framework of the
memorial's education work. The archival collection comprises the estates, material
collections and reports of concentration camp inmates. These reports are used
intensively within the context of historical-biographical research, for example
the investigation of individual fates. The archive accepts donations of the estates
of former inmates, purchases them or keeps them in safe custody. It provides for
their preservation and continued accessibility to the public.
